Kenmore Washer Error Codes — Complete List
Kenmore washers are built by Whirlpool (110-series top-loaders and Duet front-loaders) and by LG (many 796-series front-loaders). The Whirlpool-built platform reports F-codes for drain, fill, balance and board communication; the LG-built platform uses 2-letter codes like OE/UE/IE/LE/PE/tE/dE for drain, balance, fill, motor, level and door faults. Match your model prefix inside the fresh-food section door or on the washer's rating plate before diagnosing.
- PF PF means the washer lost power in the middle of a cycle — restart it and you're usually done.
- OE OE means the washer isn't draining fast enough — the front drain pump filter is the usual hero of this story.
- UE UE means the washer couldn't balance the load well enough to spin — untangle it and try again.
- IE IE means the washer didn't fill with water quickly enough — faucets, hoses, and screens are the first places to look.
- LE LE means the motor couldn't spin the drum — sometimes an overload, sometimes a sensor or motor problem.
- PE PE means the washer's water level sensor isn't giving trustworthy readings — the machine can't manage fills properly.
- tE (TE) tE means the washer's temperature sensor can't read water temperature — the machine can't control heating or wash temps.
- dE dE means the washer thinks the door isn't closed or locked — a sock in the seal often explains it.
Don't see your code?
If your display shows a code that isn't listed here, check your model's manual — the model number is on the rating plate inside the door or on the back panel — and match the platform before ordering parts.
