Miele Error Codes
Pick the code your Miele appliance is showing. Each page explains what the code means, the most likely causes ranked by probability, and which fixes are safe to try before calling a technician.
Miele Dishwasher Codes
- F01 F01 is the dishwasher telling you its water-temperature sensor is short-circuited — the machine will stop heating so nothing comes out properly cleaned until it's sorted.
- F02 F02 is F01's twin on the same sensor: the water-temperature sensor circuit reads open, so the heater stands down and a cycle can finish cold and unwashed.
- F11 F11 means the wash cabinet isn't draining — usually a mis-seated non-return valve, a blocked drain pump or clogged filters, and Miele USA walks owners through fixing it.
- F12 F12 means the dishwasher isn't taking in enough water, and Miele's own support page gives the three owner checks: faucet on, clean the inlet filter, straighten the hose.
- F14 F14 means the dishwasher's circulation pump is blocked — Miele says a pump left unused for weeks or months can dry out and stick, and gives a hot-water soak as the first fix.
- F63 F63 is Miele's 'water path control unit fault' — an internal component fault that Miele's own page says you cannot remedy yourself.
- F70 F70 means the float switch found water in the drip tray and the waterproof system cut the dishwasher off — the drain pump may keep running until you unplug it.
- F78 F78 points at the circulation (wash) pump — a blocked impeller, a connection gone bad, or the frequency converter that drives it — and mostly ends at the technician.
- Inlet/drain light flashing When the inlet/drain light flashes, the dishwasher saw a problem supplying or removing water — and Miele's own checklist covers the faucet, the inlet filter and the hose.
Miele Washer Codes
- F1 F1 on a Miele washer is a short circuit in the heating/water-temperature sensor circuit — a reset is worth one try, then it's technician work.
- F2 F2 is the open-circuit twin of F1 — the temperature sensor reads disconnected, so the heater stands down until a technician confirms the sensor or wiring.
- F10 F10 means the washer isn't getting enough water — closed stopcock, blocked inlet filter or a faulty inlet valve — and the first fixes are all done at the plumbing, not in the machine.
- F11 F11 on a Miele washer is a drainage fault — usually a blocked debris filter, a kinked hose or a failing drain pump, and the filter clean is a safe first move.
- F20 F20 says the washer's heater isn't getting the water to temperature — a reset is safe to try, but element and sensor testing is multimeter work.
- F56 F56 means the final spin couldn't reach even 400 rpm — and the most common cause is a heavy or lopsided load, which is a simple fix.
- F63 F63 is Miele's water path control unit fault — an internal module failure that Miele USA tells owners to book a repair for rather than attempt at home.
- F138 F138 means the safety tray under the tub sensed water and the machine stopped — unplug, drain collected water, and if it recurs, that's a leak to trace.
Miele Dryer Codes
- F3 F3 on a Miele tumble dryer means the drying-air temperature sensor is short-circuited — a technical fault Miele says can't be fixed at home.
- F36 F36 means Miele can't see proof the door is shut — the door contact (reed switch) is faulty, a technical fault for a technician.
- F39 F39 is the dryer's electronic-fault flag — Miele's page just says 'there is an electronic fault' and that it can't be remedied at home.
- F66 F66 is the dryer saying its airflow is choked — and Miele's own page says the cause is usually the lint filters or the plinth filter needing a proper clean.
- Clean out airways light The 'Clean out airways' light is the dryer's polite nudge that the lint filters or the plinth filter in front of the heat exchanger need a proper clean.
Miele Refrigerator Codes
- F0 F0 on a Miele refrigerator is Miele's 'technical fault' code — nothing you can fix at home, with only a single reboot worth trying first.
- F3 F3 is another Miele refrigerator 'technical fault' code — not owner-serviceable, with a single reset the only step worth trying at home.
- F121 F121 tells you the ice maker is struggling or failing — and Miele's own page says check the water supply and pressure before assuming the ice maker is dead.
- Water filter indicator red The red water-filter indicator is the fridge reminding you the filter cartridge has expired — normal maintenance you do yourself with a replacement cartridge.
