Roborock Robot Vacuum Error 1 — What It Means & How to Fix It
Roborock Error 1 means the LiDAR turret on top of the robot, or its laser, is blocked.
What this code means
The Q5 manual reads: "LiDAR turret or laser blocked. Check for obstruction and retry." The round turret spins constantly to map the room. If it cannot turn, or something is covering the laser, the robot cannot navigate and stops with a red flashing power light and a voice alert.
Taken from the Errors table in Roborock's Q5 user manual. Roborock reuses these low numbers across many models, but the lists are not identical — higher numbers in particular differ — so check the manual for your robot.
Most likely causes
| Cause | How likely | DIY-fixable? |
|---|---|---|
| Robot wedged under furniture pressing on the turret | Very common | Yes — no tools |
| Hair or debris caught in the turret gap | Common | Yes — no tools |
| Something resting on top of the robot | Occasional | Yes — no tools |
What you can try yourself
- Move the robot into open space.
- Look around the turret on top and remove anything caught in the gap.
- Turn the turret gently with a fingertip; it should rotate without scraping.
- Relocate the robot and restart cleaning, as the manual advises after any error.
When to call a technician
- The turret is clear but does not spin when a clean starts.
- Error 1 keeps returning in open space.
Typical professional repair cost: Free in most cases. A turret that will not spin needs Roborock customer service.
Frequently asked questions
What is the LiDAR turret on a Roborock?
The raised round sensor on top of the robot. It spins and uses a laser to measure the room so the robot can map and navigate.
Why does my Roborock get Error 1 under the sofa?
Low furniture can press on the turret or trap the robot so the turret cannot turn. Move it out and restart.
