Amana Error Codes
Pick the code your Amana appliance is showing. Each page explains what the code means, the most likely causes ranked by probability, and which fixes are safe to try before calling a technician.
Amana Washer Codes
- PF Your Amana washer lost power mid-cycle — PF is the machine telling you the wash was interrupted, not that something broke.
- Sud Too many suds — the Sud message means the washer added extra rinse to break down foam before it can spin.
- Ofb An out-of-balance load — Ofb appears when your washer is rebalancing an uneven load before it can spin.
- LdL Lid won't lock — LdL appears when the washer can't latch the lid, often because something is blocking it or the latch is gummed up.
- LdU The lid won't unlock — LdU tells you the washer can't release the lid, often because something is sitting on top of it.
- F8 E1 Low water flow — F8 E1 means the washer is taking too long to fill, and the fix is almost always at the taps and hoses, not inside the machine.
- F9 E1 Draining too slowly — F9 E1 means the washer took longer than expected to drain, usually a blocked hose or standpipe.
Amana Dryer Codes
- AF Restricted airflow — AF (or 'Check Vent') tells you the dryer senses clogged venting that's slowing drying.
- F2E1 Keypad fault — F2E1 points to the control panel; Amana's fix starts with a one-minute breaker reset.
- F7 E1 Motor system fault — F7 E1 means the dryer's motor, control, or motor wiring triggered an error.
