Amana Washer Error Codes — Complete List
Amana top-load washers mostly speak in short words rather than numbers: PF after a power cut, Sud for too many suds, Ofb for an off-balance load, and LdL or LdU when the lid won't lock or unlock. Two system codes sit alongside them — F8 E1 (also shown as LF or Lo FL) for a slow fill and F9 E1 (drn) for a slow drain.
- PF Your Amana washer lost power mid-cycle — PF is the machine telling you the wash was interrupted, not that something broke.
- Sud (Sd, SUD) Too many suds — the Sud message means the washer added extra rinse to break down foam before it can spin.
- Ofb An out-of-balance load — Ofb appears when your washer is rebalancing an uneven load before it can spin.
- LdL (dL, DL) Lid won't lock — LdL appears when the washer can't latch the lid, often because something is blocking it or the latch is gummed up.
- LdU (dU, DU) The lid won't unlock — LdU tells you the washer can't release the lid, often because something is sitting on top of it.
- F8 E1 (LF, Lo FL) Low water flow — F8 E1 means the washer is taking too long to fill, and the fix is almost always at the taps and hoses, not inside the machine.
- F9 E1 (DRN, drn) Draining too slowly — F9 E1 means the washer took longer than expected to drain, usually a blocked hose or standpipe.
